Hi,
We need to fix the copper tubing on our central air unit. The repairman said we needed 7/8 O.D. copper refrigeration tubing. Is this something I have to get at a plumbing supply store, or do they carry it at Home Depot or Lowes?

You need refrigeration tubing available from an A/C/refrigeration supply store. You will probably have to purchase a minimum of 50' of copper line. Replacing the line will require the system to be evacuated (refrigerant remove by recovering for recycling) unless it has all leaked out. This requires a recovery device , storage container and manifold gauges. After the repair is made the system will need to be evacuated with a vacuum pump and recharged with refrigerant. These repairs are usually left to a professional.
