Diamond Shaped
Posted on Thursday, October 2nd, 2008 at 6:54 amWhy are kites shaped diamond easier to fly kites in the shape of a rectangle, then?
Apart from the type of equipment that the kite is made, why the kite-shaped diamond fly better than the rectangle shape? Could it be drag-lift ratio, the placement of the linking rings, or something else? (I made 4 kites shaped rectangle from the base materials, non-rip nylon and flew them all and corkscrew instead of skiing). * Please ignore my inexperience in the kites .*
With a kite-shaped diamond, you have a point forward rather on one side, as in the case of a rectangular kite. The point can then "cut" the air that can not hand side simply collide with air and therefore they corkscrew through the air. In other words, a kite-shaped Diamond is just more aerodynamic than a rectangular one.
