Red light camera caught me out of state. Should I pay the fine?

I live in California and recently visited Sioux Falls. I received a $86 fine in the mail that showed a photo of my rental car making an illegal right on red. It seems to me that rather than placing better traffic signs they put in this camera system to generate revenue. What are the legal ramifications of ignoring the fine?

Most likely, they will submit the unpaid debt to a collections agency, which will have a negative affect on your credit rating. By the time they do that, there will be court costs added, and the amount will probably increase significantly.
