Out Barrel

I was wandering if a rifle barrel could be made out of Tungsten Carbide. It would seem difficult but wouldn't you have a barrel that would last indefinitely?
As a long time maker of steels. many metals might make a "super" never wear out barrel. steel is cheap and durable and versatile and varied and the properties and hardness for different uses are easy to control. I like steel,all steel.
