Rhinestone Ball

i'm attending our firmens ball in a week and a half. i have a long black and white halter dress with rhinestones on it. (its on the trim) im on a budget and can't have my hair done professionally so i need some ideas to do an updo myself (i plan on practicing a few times before the actual ball) any ideas that are easy and glamorous looking? also i need makeup tips too. i want to look pretty but not too dolled up. i have dark brown/black hair and brown eyes. please please help!
Try doing a French twist- take your hair, brush it all out so it's smooth, and hold it in your hand like you're going to put it in a ponytail. Twist all the hair together loosely so it forms sort of a loose rope, then use a big claw clip (These aren't too expensive, so maybe you could shop around for a nice one or just get a black one and add some rhinestones to it so it matches your dress) to clip it to the back of your head in a figure-8 shape. Google "French twist" for pictures, that might help. It's one of the easiest updos you can make.
As for makeup, smoky eyes are always nice? Or you could try doing a little cat's eye with some black liquid eyeliner- just flare the line out a bit from where you'd usually end it.
